SP 13 Questionnaire

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I don't like novelty yarns [frilly, fun fur, chunky, etc]. I prefer Superwash yarns so I don't have to wash it by hand. I like sock yarns and soft yarns as well.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

I have one ceramic mug at home bought from Rhinebeck with sheep on it to store my DPN’s. I also have a hand made [blue] needle holder pouch made by my SP12 Secret Pal and one store bought one from Walmart with dogs on it. My circulars at the moment are held in a Ziploc bag.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I learnt in February 2008 from my sister and my cousin Jenn. They have both been knitting for years and I decided to learn! For my birthday last December 2007 my sister bought me two sets of needles, some blue yarn and a beginner’s book to get me started. I would consider myself at the moment intermediate I suppose.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I have an Amazon wish list and a Chapters wish list.

5. What's your favorite scent?

My favourite scent is orange flavoured!

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Yes I have a sweet tooth for chocolate [plain or almonds, I don’t like caramel or stuff like that] and gum!

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

At the moment the only crafts I really do is knit.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

Yes my computer and car can play MP3’s. I like a mix of music, some R&B, some hip hop, etc. I like Backstreet Boys, Rhianna, New Kids on the block, Michael Bubble, Eminem, etc. It ranges. I just don’t like Country music!

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

I heart, live and breathe BLUE!! I don’t really dislike any, although I am not a fan of Orange.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

Currently I live with my boyfriend of over 6 years. We have two cats, Oreo and CC who are brother and sister. We recently [October 2008] got a dog, a boxer named Harley.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

There is actually a poncho I would like to knit, but at the moment I don’t own any therefore don’t normally wear them. Hats I do not wear, I hate messing up my hair lol. I do wear scarves when it really cold and mittens too.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

I enjoy socks, knitting my third or fourth pair now. I don’t really have a favourite thing to knit, I just enjoy knitting period.

13. What are you knitting right now?

Right now I am currently in two projects. One is a pair of socks for me, after knitting a Dream In Color pattern for my Single Sock Swap partner, I enjoyed and liked the pattern so much I decided to cast on a pair for myself. Secondly I am knitting a ABC blanket and I am currently at letter T.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Sure, but as long as they are usefull!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I have not knit much on circulars, so at the moment I prefer straight. I have not use many types, but I really like bamboo.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

Yes I finally caved in and bought one for myself.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

It would be my ABC blanket. I casted on June 26th 2008.

18. What is your favorite holiday? What winter holiday do you observe?

I like all Holidays because it means you get a day off from work and spend time with your family! The Winter Holiday I observe is Chanukah; however I do spend Christmas with my boyfriend’s family.

19. Is there anything that you collect?

I collect shot glasses from different countries. I have an IKEA glass cabinet dedicated to them!

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

I don’t really subscribe do any magazines, and I know own pretty much most of the Yarn Harlot’s books. There are a few books on my Chapter’s wish list that I would like, but I am waiting for after my birthday lol! No specific yarn I am dying for, but I do heart anything blue!!!

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Not that I know of off hand. Don’t really know what I have not learnt lol.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yes I am a sock knitter. My foot measurements are approximately 9” long and around.

Their original packaging in a big tub or in ziploc bags.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I learned in February of 2008. I learnt from my fabolous sister Robyn and some help from lovely cousin Jenn. My skill level would be beginner, but learning quick!

I am not a huge junk food fan since i have some food allergies, but I am a HUGE Chocolate fan! I like just plain chocolate or with almonds. Don't like with cinamon or peanut butter or anything like that. I love gums as well. I am a gum addict.

No I do not spin. [not sure what that is either]. I used to scrapbook a bit, but have not in a long time. I also ejoy taking pictures and will soon be learning how to properly use Adobe Photoshop.

Yes my computer plays MP3's. I like R&b, rap, reggae, pop, a little bit of everything. I hate country music though. I heart Bryan Adams!

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?
BLUE! I like all kind, but love my birth stone, blue topas. I am not a huge pink fan. And I don't particularly care for Orange.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my boyfriend and our 2 cats. I have 2 older siblings that I do not live with anymore [brother and sister], my parents and a nephew with a second one on the way!

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
Never owned a poncho, not sure if i would wear it. I do wear mittens and scarves. Hats tend to mess up my hair :)

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Umm since i am still new at this, I have not made that many items. I have made less then a dozen items so far, can't really answer this. I enjoyed making the bunnies lol, but the sewing was a little frustrating.

13. What are you knitting right now?
A shrug.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Yeah as long as they are useful.

So far I have only really used straight needles and bamboo. Never tried aluminum or plastic needles yet. Don't own them either. I do own a full set of circular needles but have not had to knit with them yet.

No I do not.

So far I have finished everything I have started.

18. What is your favorite holiday?
Hmm, I guess Christmas/Channukah time.

Shot glasses from different Countries. Shoes, TV shows I like on DVD, books and purses!

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
No subscriptions to any magazines. Don't own many books. I own 2 out 4 books from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, so I guess maybe the other two; 1. At Knit's End: Meditations for Women who knit too much and Yarn Harlot: The Secret life of a Knitter.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
Not that I can think of, but I learn as I go along if the pattern requires it.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
I have knitted one pair of socks so far. I wear a size 9, 10 and 11 depending on the shoe.
